About This Project

The SUE Solution’s team effectively completed an extensive utility asset evaluation performing Quality Level ‘A’ services (vertical locating). SUE Solutions also provided existing utility research and mapping of the existing utilities for this project. The general scope of the planned reconstruction project is to include minimal widening, new curb and gutter, storm water facilities, and pavement reconstruction of the SR-89 corridor (State Street) between 2000 North in Orem to Geneva Road in American Fork. These SUE services were completed in November of 2010. A total of 66 test holes were completed as well as approximately 24,800 feet of utilities were located, surveyed, and mapped to Quality Level ‘D’ standards and specifications. This work was completed in the winter months as well as at night, demanding additional safety measures involving traffic control and worker accommodation. Utility coordination efforts with existing utility owners, and local utility locating contractors also took place to account for those utilities that were not locatable by conventional means. The Quality Level ‘A’ locating services included, gathering crucial utility data such as depth, size, and material. The final deliverable to UDOT consisted of a comprehensive final SUE report which contained existing utility conditions and their limitations, photographs of the utilities potholed, survey data verifying the location of the existing utilities, CAD files and existing utility owner mapping.
