About This Project

In 2017, SUE Solutions successfully completed the utility investigations for the SR-111; SR-201 to 2700 South project located in Magna (Salt Lake County), Utah, for UDOT Region Two. The SUE investigations included Quality Level D (Utility Owner identification and mapping research), Quality Level B (designating), and Quality Level A (test holes). The project includes widening SR-111 to four lanes from SR-201 to Magna Main Street to improve traffic flow and enhance safety on SR-111. At the completion of the SUE investigations, approximately 15,600 feet of existing underground utilities were designated to Quality Level B standards and specifications, and fifteen (15) test holes were completed and processed into CAD to Quality Level A standards and specifications. Utility coordination efforts with existing utility owners also took place to ensure the accuracy and comprehensiveness of the utilities designated, specifically as it pertained to the existing 24” high pressure gas line crossing SR-111 near 2700 South, and existing fiber optic facilities. SUE Solutions completed the SUE activities ahead of schedule and 8% under budget. Utilities designated consisted of culinary and secondary water, intermediate high pressure and high pressure gas, phone, fiber optics, electric, and CATV. The final deliverable to UDOT and design consultant consisted of a comprehensive final SUE report which contained existing utility conditions and their limitations, photographs of designated utilities, existing utility owner mapping, and test hole data sheets.
