About This Project

SUE Solutions and its staff successfully completed the utility investigations for this UDOT Region Four project located in Hurricane, Utah. SUE Solutions contracted with the project’s design consultant and UDOT Region Four to provide subsurface utility engineering in the form of Quality Level D (existing utility owner mapping research), Quality Level C (storm drain data collection), Quality Level B (horizontal designating), and Quality Level A (test holes) for this project. SUE Solutions also provided the survey and CAD related activities pertaining to the SUE efforts. SUE Solutions approached the project with the goal of identifying utilities with completeness, while also considering associated costs. SUE Solutions established a program that focused Quality Level B designating at each of the intersections and at intervals throughout the rest of the project. SUE Solutions researched the existing utility owners within the project area and used their existing mapping as a template to designate the underground utilities throughout project area. Extensive utility coordination with utility owners, as well as with the design consultant took place to ensure the project’s goals and needs were being met. Upon completion of the Quality Level B investigations, SUE Solutions designated, surveyed, and processed into CAD approximately 6,750 feet of existing underground utilities to Quality level B specifications, and completed the gathering of data and information for approximately 2,910 feet of storm drain facilities (Quality Level C). In addition, SUE Solutions also completed sixteen (16) test holes at critical locations within the project gathering crucial utility information, vital to the project’s design. Utilities designated and located included culinary water, natural gas, electrical, phone, fiber optics, and CATV. SUE Solutions was able to complete the SUE investigations ahead of schedule and on budget.
