About This Project

SUE Solutions and its staff successfully completed the utility investigations for this UDOT Region Three project located in Gusher (Uintah County), Utah. SUE Solutions contracted with the project’s design consultant and UDOT Region Three to provide subsurface utility engineering in the form of Quality Level D (existing utility owner mapping research), Quality Level B (designating), and Quality Level A (test holes) for this project. UDOT proposed to widen US-40 between milepost MP 121.4 and MP 125.8 to optimize effectiveness by adding an eastbound passing lane, center turn lane, and ten-foot-wide shoulders. The project was broken into two distinct phases. During the first phase, SUE Solutions was asked to provide Quality Level D mapping throughout the project limits, mapping the existing utilities for conceptual purposes. During the second phase, SUE Solutions was asked to provide Quality Level B and Quality Level A activities, further refining the utility information as provided during the first phase. SUE Solutions worked closely with the project’s contracted survey staff as well as the utility interests within the project area, specifically with the Ute Tribe Domestic Water. Upon completion of the Phase I activities, SUE Solutions mapped approximately 72,500 lineal feet of utilities to Quality Level D specifications. Upon completion of the Phase Two SUE activities, SUE Solutions designated approximately 35,000 feet of existing underground utilities to Quality level B specifications and completed twenty-two (22) test holes at critical locations within the project gathering crucial utility information, vital to the project’s design. Utilities designated and located included culinary water, natural gas, electrical, phone, and fiber optics. SUE Solutions was able to complete the SUE investigations ahead of schedule and on budget.
